Library's History:
The Brimfield Public Library came into existence when the voters approved the establishment of a public library at town meeting on April 9, 1877. The library was originally housed on the second floor of what is know known as the Post Office. As the library grew so did the need for more space and the library moved to the second floor of the town hall in 1881. The last move for the library in its progression up Main Street was to the present building which was dedicated on June 30, 1904 as the Danielson-Lincoln Library. James Danielson Lincoln dedicated the money and the land, a former apple orchard, in remembrance of his mother and wife. The Sherman room was added in 1965, a gift of Miss Margaret Sherman in memory of her father and brothers. In earlier days, as in today, the library was used as a social center. Towns people would gather around the great fireplace which was known as the "village hearthstone" and visit. Come visit us today.
