HEALTH SERVICES

These programs are open to everyone. Tai Chi and Strength Training can be adapted to fit any physical ability/disability.  For more information on any of these services call Elizabeth or Anne.

TAI CHI classes held Tuesdays at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Tai Chi is quickly becoming the fastest growing exercise classes in Senior Centers across the country.  This is because studies have shown that Tai Chi has been used to strengthen your body, increase balance to assist in fall prevention, and has been used by chronic pain and arthritis sufferers for an effective pain management.  Classes are such that you can join in any time. Classes are taught by David Mesira. A portion of the cost of this program is funded by The Department of Elder Affairs Formula Grant.  Donations are accepted to help defray costs.

STRENGTH TRAINING CLASSES:  Classes are held Mondays and Thursdays at 12:15.  Strengthen and tone your whole body using light hand held weights and resistance bands.  All equipment provided.  Classes are taught by Patricia Nothe from the Scantic Valley YMCA, licensed instructor.  Cost is $1 per class.  A portion of the cost of this program is funded by The Department of Elder Affairs Formula Grant.

FRIENDS OF BRIMFIELD SENIOR CENTER: This is a non-profit organization formed for the purpose of raising money to support the programs of the Brimfield Senior Center.  The Friends group is currently trying to raise money to purchase a wheel chair accessible van for the purpose of transporting seniors to services at the Senior Center as well as medical and other appointments and shopping when transportation cannot be otherwise obtained from existing services.  This van will primarily transport seniors to points west of Brimfield.  If you would like to make a donation or would like more information you can call the Senior Center.
